Legal Notice

Who runs this website

christtheredeemertickets.com (“the website”) is run by Crown Media (“we”, “us”, “our”). Anyone who uses the website is “you”. These words mean the same in the Legal Notice, the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy.

The website is an independent guide. It is not the official website of Christ the Redeemer, the Corcovado train, the national park or its vans, and it is not connected to any of them.

The words and page designs on the website belong to us. Photos by other photographers are used under licence and credited on the photo credits page. Do not copy or republish any of it without our permission. If you think something on the website infringes your rights, write to us at hello@christtheredeemertickets.com and we will look at it promptly.

Accuracy and liability

We check opening hours, entry rules and ticket details against each place’s own website and the booking pages, but places change their hours, close rooms and change their prices without warning. Check the details with the place or on the booking page before you travel. The website is general guidance for visitors, not professional advice.

We are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the website, including errors or omissions in its content, the website being unavailable, or harmful code passed on through it, except where the law does not allow that liability to be limited.

We do not sell tickets. The tickets, tours and passes the website links to are sold by our partners, Tiqets and GetYourGuide. When you book, you buy from them, at their price and under their terms, and any change, cancellation or refund is handled by the company you booked with.

Content from other websites

The website links to other websites, and some pages show content loaded from them: our partners’ booking calendars and lists of tours, and the maps. We do not control those websites or what they publish, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on them.

Affiliate marketing

The website earns money through affiliate marketing. When you book a ticket, tour or pass through one of our links, the partner pays us a commission on the sale. It costs you nothing extra. We may also accept sponsorship or advertising from businesses, and will say so on any page that is sponsored.

Changes to the website

We may change, add or remove anything on the website, and take it offline for maintenance, at any time and without notice.

Language

The Legal Notice, Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy are written in English only, for readers in every language the website is published in, and the English text is the one that applies.

Updates to these pages

We may update these pages from time to time. The date of the latest version is at the foot of this page.

Privacy Policy

Who is responsible for your data

Crown Media runs the website and is responsible for the personal data described here. To ask about it, or to use any of the rights below, write to hello@christtheredeemertickets.com.

What we collect

You can read the whole website without registering or telling us who you are. We collect personal data from you in one case only. If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you write.

What other companies receive when you use the website

  • Cloudflare hosts the website. To deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks, it processes your IP address, your browser details and the pages you ask for.
  • Google Analytics tells us how the website is used: which pages are read, how people arrive, which booking links are clicked, and visitors’ devices, browsers and approximate location. It uses cookies, listed in the Cookie Policy. We see the results as totals and trends, never as named people.
  • GetYourGuide runs a small script on every page that records the pages you visit and the GetYourGuide links you click, so it can tell which bookings came from our website. It keeps an ID for your visit in a cookie and in your browser’s storage.
  • GetYourGuide booking calendars and lists of tours appear on many pages. They are loaded from GetYourGuide’s own website, which receives your IP address and browser details and may set cookies of its own.
  • OpenFreeMap supplies the maps. Your browser downloads the map from OpenFreeMap’s servers, which see the request.

Why we use your data

  • To reply when you write to us, because you would expect an answer.
  • To run the website, keep it secure and understand how it is used, so that we can improve it.
  • To be paid commission on bookings made through our links.

Each rests on our legitimate interest in running and paying for the website.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. The companies named above process it for us as our service providers.

When you book through one of our links, you give your details to Tiqets or GetYourGuide, not to us. They tell us which bookings came from our links, with details such as the product, the date, the number of people and the country of the person booking, so they can pay us, but never your name, your contact details or your payment details.

Some of these companies are based outside the European Economic Area, mainly in the United States, and transfer data there under the safeguards data protection law requires.

How long we keep it

  • Emails to us: for as long as we need them to deal with what you wrote.
  • Google Analytics: for the retention period set in our Analytics account, after which Google deletes it.

Your rights

Under data protection law you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Write to hello@christtheredeemertickets.com. You can also complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live.

Children

The website is meant for adults planning a trip. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you think a child has given us their details, write to us and we will delete them.

Other companies’ privacy policies

Cookie Policy

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser, so that it can recognise the browser when you come back. A website can also save information in your browser’s own storage, which works in much the same way. This policy covers both.

Cookies on this website

The website sets no cookies of its own. These are set by the services it uses:

Service Name How long it lasts What it does
Google Analytics _ga 2 years Tells one visitor’s browser from another’s
Google Analytics _ga_KR085RV32F 2 years Keeps track of the current visit
GetYourGuide session_id Until you close the browser Links the pages you visit into one visit, so a booking can be credited to us
GetYourGuide partner_id (browser storage) Until you clear it Records that you arrived from our website
GetYourGuide gyg_visitor_id (browser storage) Until you close the tab An ID for your visit, used to credit bookings to us

Cookies inside our partners’ calendars

The GetYourGuide booking calendars and lists of tours are pages from GetYourGuide’s website shown inside ours. They may set cookies of their own, which are covered by GetYourGuide’s policy. When you click through to book, the partner’s website sets cookies so that the booking is credited to us.

How to manage cookies

You can delete the cookies already in your browser, and block them in future, in your browser’s settings:

To stop Google Analytics on every website, use Google’s opt-out add-on. If you block cookies, the booking calendars may not work, and you may need to click through to the partner’s website to see availability.
